Message from our President

It is a great honor to serve as ISQua’s new President.  I thoroughly enjoyed seeing so many of you at what was a tremendously exciting meeting in Edinburgh.  It is apparent that healthcare systems globally are becoming increasingly focused on quality and safety, including many that have not previously had a major focus on it.  Our Officers had a series of meetings with quality and safety leaders from around the world and it is apparent there is huge appetite for moving forward in this area.

Reflections on 2013

2013 commenced on a positive note with the accolades from our 2012 Geneva Conference just beginning to subside. We had rave reviews from delegates who told us of their enjoyment of the science and networking and fond memories of the social events including a rare opportunity to visit the headquarters of the United Nations. Our partners in Switzerland are to be congratulated as are our staff led by Events Manager, Eadin Murphy.

by Neil McArdle

Neil McArdle
Neil has been living and working in Rio for the past 6 months.  Neil is a translater and also teaches english in the local colleges.  This is his report on his experience visiting the Cidade de deus community.

From a modern air-conditioned Zona Sul bus to a suspension-less overcrowded connection, the transition of social class is evident even before arrival. Commuters can expect a two-hour trip, granting traffic permits. Transport is just one of the many problems faced by the estimated 40,000 inhabitants of Cidade de deus or, as the locals call it, C.D.D.
