In sub-Saharan Africa, many health care clinics do not have the resources to apply for or achieve accreditation—resources such as a consistent supply of medication or the infrastructure to keep patient records safe and secure. SafeCare provides these clinics an option to improve care for their patients with quality improvement standards they can comply with even under restricted conditions.

China has tried to implement reforms to improve healthcare and raise patient satisfaction. A full range of healthcare improvement requirements were established in 2015 designed to give patients a tangible sense of improvement of the healthcare. One year after the implementation of the national healthcare improvement initiative, Peking Union Medical College (PUMC) School of Public Health was commissioned as a third party academic institution to evaluate the initiative.
